Ridding Rodents in a Yard

November 16, 2007

Having a yard that is lush, green, and full of life from trees and flowers is often what many people are looking for. There are some instances, though, where animals may have a different idea. Animals can often play a very heavy role in the means of how a lawn is taken care of. This means that rodents such as moles, ants, rabbits, and even deer can destroy hours of hard work, and cause great problems for the future. There are methods, though, of getting rid of these problem animals.

Many people may not think of it, but one way to get rid of the tomato eating slugs is by placing a cup of beer under the tomato plants. This is a means for the slugs to seek something to drink, thus drowning in the beer. Although this is not often common practice for many people to use such a method, it does work. Other people may take large fire ant hills to the extreme, but burning the piles. This is an effective means to killing the ants, but should be approached with great caution. This is because lighting fires on ant hills that may already have ant killer on it can ignite a larger fire than expected. For animals such as deer that may want to come and chew on flowers, there are deer repellant sprays that can be placed down in the yard that will detract the deer from the area for good.
