Healthy Trees Make for A Healthy Garden

You should care for your trees year round.  Many people get to take the winters off from gardening flowers, yet you should really keep up with your trees year round in order to give them the much care that they need.  Some people do not realize the grand importance of a tree in one’s garden.  If you have a beautiful garden but your trees are not maintained then it takes away from your garden’s attraction.  Here are some key tips on caring for your trees so that they stay healthy all year round.

Water is essential to life.  Therefore, make sure your trees always have water.  You want them to have water all year round and especially in those hot and dry summer months.  Contrary to popular belief, sprinklers give only enough water to grass but not to trees, therefore you should let the water from a hose soak into the grounds by the roots of the tree or trees.  You will be feeding it directly so there is no question as to whether it received the water or not.  Smaller tress should have at least five minutes of watering while most average to large trees need at least 45 minutes to an hour of watering.  This should be done at least one a week and twice in really dry weather.

Next comes fertilization.  You should have a balanced PH level in your tree soil and you should make sure that the roots are absorbing as much nutrients as possible.  Finally you should also be on the lookout for insect and fungi.  This is called tree damage control.  The sooner you spot the problem the better it is for your tree because you  can take care  of it.
