Making a Container Garden

If you live in an apartment, or you just don’t have a lot of space in your yard, you can easily enjoy a beautiful garden. Container gardens are very easy to install and can be enjoyed all year round, since the pots are portable. If you have never tried to make a container garden before, here are a few tips to get you started.

First, pick out some pots that you really like. If your yard needs some spicing up, choose pots in vibrant colors. You can buy plain colored pots and then customize them yourself with paint from a hardware store. This can really help you make a garden that reflects your own unique personality.

Next, you’ll need to decide on which plants will go in your container garden. There are hundreds of plants that do well in pots and can survive all year round with the proper care. Select vibrant colors as well as regular greens to keep it interesting. Don’t forget that the plants that you pick should be ones that will survive in your particular zone.

Arrange your pots in one area of your patio or spread them out over the available space that you have. You can really have a lot of fun organizing them by type or color. You can also get a little random and just have fun mixing colors and types. When it starts to get cold, clear off a little space within your house to duplicate the outdoor effect you achieved. You can then bring the pots in and arrange them to look like they did outside. This makes it a lot more fun to keep a garden going all year round and it can really lift your spirits during the winter months.
