Whenever you go to the store, you see plenty of organic foods for sale and you wonder why you should buy organic foods, and as a gardener why should you grow your foods organically? Well here are seven good reasons.
1. You can use your own waste from your kitchen and from your garden to make compost for your garden. Natural compost is better than using chemicals and is a lot better for you and for the environment.
2. There aren’t any chemicals used in organic farming, so you don’t have to worry about what is going into your body when you eat the vegetables that you grow. Although the fertilizers are supposed to be safe, you can never be certain and you must remember that they are poisons that are used to kill living things like insects and weeds.
3. You don’t have to worry about its affect on the environment and everything that is going into the water from the chemicals used in the garden.
4. You will lose less topsoil because it will be richer and more fertile than if you were to use chemical fertilizers.
5. You will save a lot of money by making your own compost as opposed to buying fertilizer. Since the compost is made up of your own garbage, there is no extra expense.
6. Mulch helps to keep the weeds out and the soil moist. It’s considered to be the gardener’s best friend because it does so much and asks so little.
7. By using mulch, you keep the environment safe and healthy for the people who will come after us.
