Herb Gardens

A small herb garden is one of the most essential plantations for any country kitchen garden. All it needs is a little bit of maintenance and care. Thus, anyone can have a country kitchen garden. In technical herbs are plants without the permanent stems. When one thinks of herbs it's all about fragrant and flavoral little plants that may be used for cooking, medicine or crafts. Herbs maybe grown on their own or they simply might be grown within the garden. Basil when grown with tomatoes and peppers can enhance the flavor of the fruits. This combination is found in many of the dishes, and the nature too works smartly.

The kitchen herb garden could include the favorites like sweet basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary, and chives. They are easy to grow so are very much useful while cooking. An organic herb garden would cut down some of your culinary expenses. It sounds so cool, that you get out of your house and pick up some of the herbs.

Enjoy with the beauty of herbs

These herbs come in many forms like in form of flowers, others as vines, and others like rosemary like hedges. The herbs are grown in order to control the erosion of soil. However, some of the herbs disappear every winter; they sprout back every spring and need only be planted once. Herbs are lovely additional to your home property.

Herbs not only for eating

The young blue spruce needles can be used as a substitute for rosemary. Herbs are both flavoral and fragrant. Lavender, peppermint or chamomile burned could be used as incense. Thus, the use of herb goes beyond the consumption usage.

Beneficial for gardens

The herbs can attract the insects to the garden and thus are useful. The low lying flowers make best home for the insects to dwell and so these herbs are useful to thrive them off. Cloves is an excellent addition to the garden as it is a legume like peas and beans and assists adding in the fixation of nitrogen which is added to soil. It also helps attracting the insects to the garden.

Planting requirements

Planting is very much essential for herbs. In addition to well drained soil, herbs tend to thrive in a soil that is more alkaline. Herb also enjoys a lot of sunlight so should be kept in the open. Keep the herb well sheltered close to your kitchen.
