How to protect your garden from rabbits

a. Look for the signs that a rabbit has been in your yard – you'll see shrubs and small trees stripped of bark, leaves that have been nibbled, and round droppings that are the size of pellets.

b. Put ¾ mesh around your garden made of wire, and make certain that it is two to three feet above the ground and at least one foot buried beneath the ground.  This will keep the rabbits from going underneath the fence.

c.  If you have any other fences in your yard, add on one foot extensions to them.

d.  So that the rabbits don't get over the top of the fence, bend the top six inches of the mesh outward.

e.  Use mesh cylinders to surround plants individually, and make certain that they are appropriately sized for the plant.

f.   To stop the rabbits from eating the bark on trees, wrap the bottom of the trees with hardware cloth at least two feet from the base.

g.  Use other treats, such as clover and other plants that rabbits love to deter them away from your plants.

h.  Spray vegetation and plants with rabbit repellents that are non toxic, and make certain to apply more every two weeks or after it rains.

I.  Something that scares away the rabbits is used kitty litter. Spread it around the garden and the smell will keep the rabbits away.

j.  If you have a bird feeder, move it away from any plants that you don't want the rabbits to eat.  When winter comes the seed may attract rabbits to the feeder.
